Cook the Barilla lasagna noodles according to the package instructions (if using regular noodles). If using no-boil noodles, skip this step.
In a large pan, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
Stir in the marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and the beaten egg. Stir until well combined.
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of ricotta mixture, then more sauce. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of sauce on top.
Top the lasagna with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
Notes
Optional: Serve with garlic bread and a side salad for a complete meal.
