Ingredients

  • 1 box Barilla Lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular)
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the Barilla lasagna noodles according to the package instructions (if using regular noodles). If using no-boil noodles, skip this step.
  • In a large pan, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and the beaten egg. Stir until well combined.
  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of ricotta mixture, then more sauce. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of sauce on top.
  • Top the lasagna with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

Optional: Serve with garlic bread and a side salad for a complete meal.
